Nilda Cantu, Counselor
The elementary years are a time when students begin to develop their academic self-concept and feelings of competence and confidence as learners. They are beginning to develop decision-making, communication and life skills, as well as character values. It is also a time when students develop and acquire attitudes toward school, self, peers, social groups and family.
As the school guidance counselor, I work with all children through monthly guidance lessons. We focus on Emotional Intelligence skills such as being Self-Aware, Self-Regulating, Motivation, having Empathy for others, and how to refine our Social Skills. I also work with students who need additional support through small group sessions. I am here for all children, to help, love, and nurture them.
